Fighter Plane Stabilizer Swastika

Lightweight wood tail section taken from the stabilizer of an unidentified fighter plane shot down near Betzdorf, Germany in April of 1945. Grey painted background with black & white painted swastika showing some wear and chipping to the paint.  There is a crack in the wood which extends halfway across the emblem. The reverse has handwriting in pencil describing the location and timeframe the plane was shot down, along with the name and unit number of the veteran who acquired it. Also included is a letter from the museum that originally had this item on display and traded it for a U.S. helmet in 1980.
