U-Boat “Kill” Tonnage
Pennants
These are some nicely made reproductions of
U-Boat “Kill” pennants, which during the war were unofficial
home-made pennants produced by U-Boat crews to celebrate the vessels they
sank. They were flown on a line
from the conning tower as the U-Boat returned to port from a successful mission
and were also displayed at headquarters.
These pennants are produced just like originals, on canvas with painted
unofficial unit insignia (emblems) unique to the specific U-Boat, the boat
number and the total tonnage sunk.
These were originally produced as movie props (don’t ask me which
movie or movies, as I don’t know) so they are nicely aged and look
original. They are one-sided and
make great display pieces to go with any Kriegsmarine
collection.
